We have noticed that after a server restore many clients email programs such as outlook or outlook express fail to retrieve emails, the most common error we are seeing is "host name does not exist
The reason for that error is because clients are using our server name as the hostname for email accounts when the correct host name is your own website name / domain name.
In outlook express simply update those in
Tools / Accounts / Properties ( choose the correct email account if you have more than one ) / Servers
Check that the incoming and outgoing mail servers say
mail.yourwebsite-not-ours.com
mail.yourwebsite-not-ours.com
for both the incoming and outgoing mail server settings.
