We Provide a webmail service with your hosting account.
http://www.yourdomain.com:2095/horde/index.php
* Please note if you use the webmail system and store emails in the sent items, trash or other folders this will be counted as space used in your email accounts which are setup in your cpanel. And in turn the overall space of your hosting account.
* The Horde Webmail system has Options to allow you to keep it clean of trash and even automatically clear out old sent items.
* Sent items and other folders such as trash are not accumulated unless you actually use the webmail system.
Default email account on our system within your cpanel.
If you login to your cpanel and click the MAIL icon, then the link
[ Manage/Add/Remove Accounts ] you will see an email account setup already.
This is called your Default/Catchall email account.
The Default email account is the one named after your cpanel username we provide upon acount setup of your hosting account.
That email account does not have to be setup because its established when we create your hosting account on the server.
Its different from other email accounts you setup in cpanel such as 'sales' 'webmaster' which are called Alias email accounts.
The default email account catches every email sent to yourdomain.com unless the email is addressed to an email account you have previously setup in your cpanel such as sales webmaster admin etc etc.
Default email account can also be turned off not to receive any emails by logging into your cpanel and clicking MAIL then the link
[ Default Address ]
in the put this text :blackhole: in the text box.
( include the :: on both ends of the word blackhole. )
The text box may already have the :blackhole: setting, or it may have your cpanel username, or it may have another email address you are forwarding to. If it has your cpanel username, this means its set to receive all emails, if you leave the box empty and save, that will automatically set your account to receive all emails as it automatically inserts your cpanel username when saving.
Setting to :blackhole: will turn off your catch all default address and your account will then only collect emails to email accounts you have actually setup in your cpanel which are called Alias email accounts.
The reason many clients turn off the 'catch-all' default' email account is to reduce spam, spammers send emails to tom, dick, harry and every combination of usernames you can imagine, turning off the
catchall default account means you only get emails to the email account usernames you choose by setting up alias email accounts such as webmaster, admin sales etc etc.
Viceversa you can enable your default email account by logging into your cpanel and clicking MAIL / Default Address
and remove the entry :blackhole:
and save.
As well you can forward all emails sent to your domain to another email address just by putting that email address in place of the :blackhole: setting.
* Take care when sending all emails to external email servers because if they fail to receive your emails or bounce them, they maybe gone forever.
* You should not, setup an alias email account named after your cpanel username, because it will cause issues with your email system.
* You can access your default email account via webmail, POP3 or IMAP in similar fashion to Alias email accounts with one exception, you only put the username in the password box instead of the entire email address as you normally do with alias email accounts.
More to come.
