Some clients on certain ISP's have problems sending emails. [ ISP is your internet service provider, the one who connects you to the internet ]

If this is the case the two most common causes are

1. Your ISP blocks the outgoing mail server port we have setup to allow you to send emails using your email accounts on our servers, the ISP's do this in an attempt to stop spammers who use the same port from sending emails.

Solution [a] Change your outgoing smtp port from 25 to 26
In Outlook express this is found

Tools / Accounts / Properties / Advanced

where it says

Outgoing smtp 25

change it to 26

2. To speed up your outgoing emails and overcome any local ISP issues you can also change your mail settings so that your actually using your ISP's mail servers to send emails.

Solution.

Tools / Accounts / Properties [of the email account in question ] / Servers

Outgoing SMTP

currently it should be

mail.yourwebsite.com

change it to your ISP's mail server [ email or phone them for that setting ], you will of course have to use the username and password of that account at your ISP also

Tools / Accounts / Properties / Servers

Settings

Make sure: LOGON USING is checked

Put in your ISP's account username and password they give you for connecting to the internet.

Personally we at digitalhost use the same mail servers at digitalhost that you do for all our emails and don't have these issues, but I am aware some clients on certain ISP's do.
