Default Account
Definitition:
Your default account is the username that your account runs under followed by your domain name. An example is:
the username: fast
the domain: fastcars.com
which would make fast@fastcars.com
In your Cpanel Mail setup you have the facility to forward the default account using any of these options.
1. :blackhole: disgards any mail sent to that default address
2. :fail: returns to sender with error.
3. forward to any other email address *except* to defaultusername@yourdomain.com
Please do not forward your default account to defaultusername@yourdomain.com.
This first example below is the Incorrect (Wrong) Setup.
Default Address Maintenance
Send all unrouted e-mail for: fast@fastcars.com to: fast@fastcars.com Change
Hint: You can enter :blackhole: to discard all incoming unrouted mail or :fail: no such address here to bounce it
[ Go Back ]
These Three are all correct and you can use any of them successfully.
Default Address Maintenance
Send all unrouted e-mail for: fast@fastcars.com to: terry@fastcars.com Change

[ Go Back ]

Final notes:
Incorrect setup causes unroutable domain errors.
When checking the default account using outlook express or other similar program you only need to use the default account username.
When logging into horde through the webmail system you only need to use the account default username. This is the opposite to other new email accounts you create in your cpanel which always require the full username@domainname.com for checking email.
