I am blonde. :? Can you tell me how to set up the ftp program for uploading to my ftp site? I use this for business, and need to upload *large* files for short storage. I have a satellite connection, so it's very fast download, but only moderately slow upload. It was suggested to me that I use "cute ftp" for ease of facilitating this effort.
THANK YOU

There are several programs and methods to use ftp

1. easy and fast way through a browser, type this address into your web-browser
ftp://yourwebsite.com

when the page loads you may get an authentication error, just ignore that and RIGHT CLICK

choose from the menu 'LOGIN AS'

Put in your Cpanel Username and password, from there you can drag and drop files from your desk top to your website.

Please do not give your password to other people, instead setup a new ftp account in your cpanel under FTP MANAGER
AND SPECIFY A FOLDER SUCH AS 'work_files'

Give your friend or work college a username and password so they can upload files to the folder you have designated for them.

2. Best and most efficient way when wanting to work with many files into different folders is choose a program such as cuteftp or wsftp, here is a website with a list of free ftp programs
http://www.thefreesite.com/Free_Software/FTP_freeware/

Once you have your program installed it will vary in setup but almost all programs require you use the format

ftp.yourwebsite.com or ftp://yourwebsite.com

and your username as 'username' or 'username@yourdomain.com'

3. Many clients find it easier just to use Cpanel.

http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel
Username: youraccountusername
Password: youraccountpassword

Go to 'File Manager"
go to the folder you wish to work with ( it should be inside the main folder 'public_html) and then click the folder where you wish to upload files, then click UPload file to browse on your computer system for the files you wish to upload.

From within Cpanel File Manager you can upload, delete, set file permissions and many other tasks, some more information here
http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cp/index.html

thankyou
