FrontPage User Information
A Unix version of FrontPage server extensions is installed by request at no charge. In order to use the FrontPage publish features or FrontPage "elements" you will need to install FrontPage server extensions. This is done through your CPanel control panel. (I have done this for you)
We support use of the latest server extensions (FP2002) as well as earlier versions of FrontPage!
The extent of our support for Microsoft FrontPage is limited to the installation of server extensions.
FAQ - Frequently asked questions about FrontPage
Q.) I just signed up and am trying to publish my FrontPage website but it won't work.
A.) If you are using the http method of publishing it won't work until your site fully resolves to our server. In other words, if typing in your domain name doesn't send you to our server the built in FrontPage publisher will not work either. The only way to publish before the name resolves to our server is to use standard FTP or purchase a dedicated IP address, cost is $2 US per month.
Q.) OK, then I'll just put the IP address and publish. Does that work?
A.) No. Your website uses a shared IP unless you have purchased a dedicated IP. If you purchase a dedicated IP you can publish using the IP before the name resolves. You can purchase a dedicated IP, contact support@digitalhost.net
Q.) How large can my FrontPage site get before problems occur?
A.) Microsoft FrontPage is developed by Microsoft with the assumption that it will run on a Microsoft IIs web server. FrontPage server extensions have been ported to Linux/Unix systems with all of the same functionality that you would get from a MS server except that we have noticed that when a site approaches a certain size things begin to break. This size depends upon what processes must occur at the server side to publish your site. A site built in FrontPage and published using standard FTP as opposed to the FrontPage publisher has no size limit. A site published using FrontPage and the server extensions has a limit of about 1000 pages because the server side processes will be shut down by the server after three minutes. There is no fix or way around that limit and your limit may vary.
Q.) I'm trying to publish my site, I have installed FrontPage server extensions but FrontPage continues to tell me that the site does not have server extensions installed.
A.) This is because your site has not yet resolved to our servers. The only way to publish using the http method is if the nameservers have been changed to point to our server, and the 24-72 hour propagation time has passed. Your site can still be published using standard FTP but none of the features using server extensions will work.
For more in depth "how to" help on administering your FrontPage website see the Help files which come with your version of the application or Microsoft help on the web or see one of the following newsgroups:

Note: Using Microsoft FrontPage server extensions will severely limit the ability to use many functions in your control panel without risking "breaking" your installed server extensions.
